How is the HDP 10 Countdown compiled? First, we are based out of Virginia, so the countdown was created to promote dancehall and reggae in the area, as well bring listeners up to date. We look at the airplay and charts that come out of Jamaica and cross reference those songs with what DJs in the US are playing. This is why the chart selection is mixed. Some songs that might have been playing in Jamaica for 6 months are only just now being introduced here.
Why voting? Why not? It’s just to make the countdown interactive and fun. It is also a good promotional tool helping artist and producers interact with their fan base more.
